🛠️ Microcement Application Guide

1️⃣ What surfaces are suitable for microcement installation?

✅ Over Existing Tiles:

Tiles must be structurally sound (no hollow sounds when tapped).
Embossed or heavily textured tiles may require self-leveling before application.

✅ Over Self-Leveling Cement:

Only on properly cured self-leveled screeds — at least 28 days old to prevent hairline cracks.
Not suitable over hand-smoothed screeds (these can crack and cause failures).

2️⃣ What site conditions are required before starting microcement works?

✔ Clean & Dry Site:

All dust, debris, oil, adhesives, and paint residue must be removed.

✔ Neat Wall-to-Floor Edges:

Damages from hacking or skirting removal must be patched/sealed before we start.

✔ Completed Carpentry:

All built-in furniture must be fully installed before coating.
Areas covered by cabinetry cannot be coated afterward.

✔ Major Painting Completed:

All wall and ceiling paintwork must be finished and dried before microcement works.
Paint splatters on textured microcement are nearly impossible to remove.

✔ Ceiling Lights Installed:

Overhead lighting installations should be completed first to avoid floor damage during later works.

✔ Doors Installed with Clearance:

Doors must have at least 3mm clearance to accommodate the microcement layer.

3️⃣ What should I avoid during microcement application?

🚫 The worksite must remain strictly off-limits throughout the application and sealing process.

🚫 Do not use ladders with damaged or unprotected legs — they can dent or scratch the fresh coating.

🚫 Avoid moving trolleys, carts, or any heavy objects across the surface for at least 28 days after application.

✅ Our team will notify you when it’s safe to re-enter or resume other works on-site.

4️⃣ How long does microcement take to cure?

⏳ Light foot traffic: Safe after 48–72 hours — always check with our team for confirmation.

⏳ Full cure: Achieved in 28 days, which allows the microcement to reach maximum hardness and durability.

✅ A protective sealer is applied at the final stage — avoid using harsh chemicals until fully cured.

5️⃣ How should I maintain microcement floors?

🧼 Use pH-neutral cleaners only — strong acids, bleach, or abrasive cleaners can damage the sealer and microcement surface.

🔄 Reseal high-traffic areas every 2–3 years to maintain optimal durability and resistance.

🚫 Avoid dragging heavy or sharp objects across the floor to prevent scratches.

🛠️ Microcement / Lime Plaster Bathroom Application Guide

1️⃣ What surfaces can microcement and lime plaster be applied on?

✅ Over Existing Tiles

Tiles must be securely fixed and not hollow sounding.
Embossed or patterned tiles require a cement-smoothing layer to achieve a uniform finish.

✅ Over Smooth Cement Surfaces

Cement must be smooth, flat, and painting-grade.
Rough screeds need to be rectified before application to prevent uneven results.

✅ Over Calcium Silicate Boards / Marine Plywood / Cement Putty

Permitted if these conditions are met:
- No gypsum boards in wet areas (they have poor moisture resistance).
- Board joints must be sealed with emulsion, outdoor, or epoxy putty (not standard stopping compound).
- All joints reinforced with mesh.
- All corners must use metal or PVC corner beads for proper strength.

2️⃣ What site preparation is needed before microcement works?

✔ Remove Toilet Fittings & Pipes – For full coating access

✔ Check Floor Gradient – Microcement cannot fix slopes

✔ AC Drain – Leave elbow unglued for our works

✔ Ceiling Lights Installed – For proper checks

✔ No Carpentry Yet – Install after walls coated

✔ Shower Screen – U-channel in place, glass after coating

✔ Doors Removed – Allows safer installation
